How Does Laser Hair Removal for Men Work?

How Does The Process Work?

  • Laser energy absorbs melanin
  • Heat energy reaches the hair follicle
  • The follicle gradually becomes inactive
  • Future hair becomes thinner and less dense

Laser is most effective only in the Anagen phase, so multiple sessions are required. At ND Skin Aesthetics – Leicester we use safe laser technology designed to ensure permanent hair reduction. It is also effective for male grooming and ingrown hair treatment.

We use the world-renowned Soprano Titanium technology.

  • 3D Laser Technology
  • Three wavelengths: 755nm, 810nm, 1064nm
  • Effective on all skin types including darker skin tones
  • Virtually pain free hair removal experience
  • Fast work on large areas

This technology targets both deep and superficial follicles at the same time, resulting in more effective results. This technology makes a big difference for those looking for the best laser hair removal in Leicester.

Frequently asked questions

Is it OK for men to get laser hair removal?

Yes, it’s perfectly okay for men to get laser hair removal. This procedure is not gender-specific and can be beneficial for men who wish to reduce or eliminate unwanted hair on their face, back, chest, or other areas. It’s an effective solution for managing excessive hair growth, providing a long-term alternative to traditional methods like shaving or waxing.

Can you do laser hair removal on a man's head?

While technically possible, laser hair removal on a man’s head is less common. The procedure is more typically used for areas such as the beard, neck, and back. If considering laser hair removal for the scalp, consult with a specialist to discuss potential outcomes and considerations, as the scalp skin is sensitive and the area is large.

How long does laser hair removal last for men?

Laser hair removal can provide long-lasting results, but the duration can vary based on individual factors such as hair color, skin type, and the area treated. While many men experience significant hair reduction after a full treatment cycle (usually 6-8 sessions), some might need occasional touch-up sessions to maintain results due to natural hair growth cycles.

Do you shave before laser hair removal?

Yes, you are generally advised to shave the treatment area 24 to 48 hours before undergoing laser hair removal. Shaving helps to prevent the laser from targeting hair above the skin, which can reduce the risk of burns and ensure the laser effectively reaches the hair follicles beneath the skin’s surface.

At what age is laser hair removal most effective?

Laser hair removal can be effective at any adult age but is typically recommended for individuals 18 years and older. This recommendation is due to hormonal changes that can affect hair growth patterns. The effectiveness of the procedure can vary depending on the individual’s hair and skin type, regardless of age.

What happens if I stop laser hair removal after 4 sessions?

If you stop laser hair removal after 4 sessions, you may still see a significant reduction in hair growth, but the results might not be as comprehensive as completing a full treatment cycle. Hair may grow back finer and less dense, but for the best long-term results, it’s recommended to complete the entire course of treatment as advised by your specialist.

Why is my hair growing back 2 days after laser?

Experiencing hair regrowth two days after a laser hair removal session is normal and part of the hair growth cycle. This “regrowth” is often the shedding process of the treated hairs being expelled from the follicle. True regrowth will take longer to appear. Multiple sessions are required to target hairs in different growth phases effectively.
