Acne Scar Treatment and Removal in Leicester
Acne can leave scars long after the spots have gone: dips, pitted skin, rough texture and marks that make makeup sit unevenly and knock your confidence. At ND Skin Aesthetics in Wigston, acne scar treatment in Leicester starts with finding out exactly what type of scarring you have, using a consultation and an OBSERV 520x skin scan. Then we match the treatment to your scars.
We offer six acne scar treatments under one roof: iPixel fractional laser resurfacing on the Alma Harmony XL PRO, Morpheus8 RF microneedling, Dermapen 4 microneedling, microneedling with Ameela exosomes, ClearSkin PRO laser and the Perfect Peel. Because we are not tied to one machine, your plan is built around your scars, your skin tone and the downtime you can allow.
Looking for acne scar removal in Leicester, laser treatment for acne scars or help with old pimple scars? Acne scars can rarely be removed completely, but most can be improved a great deal with the right plan. We treat acne scars on every skin tone, including brown and Black skin, and we are on Bell Street in Wigston, about 10 minutes from Oadby and Leicester city centre.
Treatments are carried out by our qualified therapists. Results build over a course of treatments and vary from person to person.
Types of Acne Scars and How We Treat Them
The right acne scar treatment depends on the type of scar. Most people have a mix, so your plan usually combines more than one treatment. These are the main types of acne scarring we see at our Leicester clinic.

Rolling scars
Wide, shallow dips with soft edges that make the skin look wavy in side lighting. Often helped by iPixel laser resurfacing, Morpheus8 and microneedling.
Boxcar scars
Round or oval dips with sharp edges, a bit like chickenpox scars, usually on the cheeks and temples. Often helped by iPixel laser resurfacing to soften the edges, alongside Morpheus8 or microneedling.
Ice pick scars
Narrow, deep holes that look like large open pores. They are the hardest acne scars to improve and usually need a combination plan over several sessions. We will be honest about how much they are likely to change.
Raised scars
Firm, raised scars, more common on the jawline, chest and back. We assess these carefully, as some resurfacing is not suitable if you tend to form keloid scars.
Post-acne marks
Flat red or brown marks left after spots. They are not true scars, because the skin is not dented, and they often respond to peels, skincare and DYE-SR light. See our hyperpigmentation treatment for dark marks.
Texture and enlarged pores
Rough, uneven skin and bigger-looking pores after years of breakouts. Often helped by microneedling, exosome microneedling or iPixel.
Still getting spots? Active acne needs treating first, with our acne treatments or ClearSkin laser, so new breakouts do not leave new scars.

Why Does Acne Leave Scars?
Acne scars form when deep, inflamed spots damage the skin’s collagen. As the skin heals, it either makes too little collagen, leaving a dip (atrophic scars such as rolling, boxcar and ice pick), or too much, leaving a raised scar. The deeper and longer-lasting the inflammation, the more likely a scar is.
Watch: Acne Scarring in 30 seconds. What it is, common causes and how we can help.
Deep inflammation
Cysts and nodules reach deeper into the skin and damage collagen.
Picking and squeezing
Pushes inflammation deeper and makes scarring more likely.
Delayed treatment
The longer acne stays active, the more chance it has to scar.
Collagen loss
Scars can look worse with age as the skin loses collagen.
Genetics and skin type
Some people are simply more likely to scar than others.
Start with an OBSERV 520x Skin Analysis
Acne scars, red marks and brown marks can look alike in the mirror, and they need different treatments. That is why every acne scar journey at ND Skin starts with our OBSERV 520x skin analysis. The scan photographs your skin under different light modes, showing:
- which marks are true scars (dips in the skin) and which are pigmentation or redness
- the type and depth of your scarring, so we choose the right treatment
- texture, pores and any active acne or inflammation that needs calming first
You only pay for treatments that suit your scars, and we repeat the scan as your plan goes on so you can compare your skin. The analysis is normally £70 and currently £35, redeemable against treatment of £100 or more.

Acne Scar Treatments: Laser, Morpheus8, Microneedling and Peels

Why combination plans work: acne scars sit at different depths, and each treatment works at a different level of the skin. Many of our clients get the best results from a plan that combines, for example, iPixel resurfacing with microneedling or Morpheus8, spaced safely over a few months.
No acne scar treatment is an instant fix. Results build over a course of treatments and good skincare, and vary from person to person.

Acne Scar Treatment Results: What to Expect
Acne scar treatment works gradually. Most people notice smoother-looking skin within a few weeks of a session, then continued improvement over the following months as new collagen forms. Your therapist will plan your course and check your progress along the way.
Consultation
We assess your scars, often with an OBSERV 520x scan, and plan your course.
Downtime
From a day or two after microneedling to about a week after laser.
A Course
Usually 3 sessions or more, a few weeks apart.
Gradual Improvement
Collagen keeps rebuilding for months after your course.
Results vary from person to person, depending on your skin, the concern being treated and your aftercare. Your therapist will explain what you can realistically expect at your consultation.

What about CO2 lasers? CO2 resurfacing is a different ablative laser that is usually more aggressive, with longer downtime. We do not offer CO2. The Er:YAG laser in iPixel removes skin very precisely with less heat spreading to the surrounding skin, which is why it usually heals faster.
Is Acne Scar Treatment Right for You?
Acne scar treatment suits anyone whose acne has settled, or is being treated, but has left dips, uneven texture or marks behind. We treat acne scars on every skin tone, from fair to Black skin, and we choose treatments and settings to suit your skin type. Your therapist will check your skin and medical history at your consultation.
It may suit you if you
- Have rolling, boxcar or ice pick acne scars
- Have rough texture or enlarged pores after acne
- Have post-acne marks that have not faded
- Have acne that has settled, or is being treated
- Can follow the aftercare and keep out of the sun
When Acne Scar Treatment Should Wait
Your therapist checks your skin and medical history at your consultation. Treatment for acne scars is usually not suitable, or needs to wait, if you:
- still have active, inflamed acne (we treat this first)
- have taken isotretinoin (Roaccutane) in the last 6 months
- are pregnant or breastfeeding
- have a skin infection, open wounds or an active cold sore in the area
- have a tan, sunburn or fake tan on the area
- tend to form keloid or raised scars
Darker skin tones: some acne scar treatments carry a higher risk of temporary dark marks on brown and Black skin. We assess every skin type individually and may recommend microneedling, Morpheus8 or gentler settings instead.
Acne Scar Consultation and Patch Test
Every acne scar plan starts with a skin consultation with one of our qualified therapists. We look at your scars, ask about your acne history, medicines and skincare, and explain which treatments suit you and why.
The consultation is £35, redeemable against any treatment of £100 or more, and includes a patch test where needed. For a detailed map of your scarring, add an OBSERV 520x skin analysis.
Your Acne Scar Journey at ND Skin
Acne scars improve over a journey, not in one visit. We find out what is really going on first, prepare your skin, treat it, then track the change. Numbing cream is used where needed, and your therapist talks you through each step.
1. Consultation and Scan
We look at your scars, skin tone and acne history, and an OBSERV scan shows scar type and depth.
2. Prepare Your Skin
Active acne is calmed first, with a patch test where needed.
3. Treatment Course
iPixel, Morpheus8, microneedling or a combination, a few weeks apart.
4. Track and Maintain
Follow-up scans compare your skin as new collagen builds.
Before Your Session
- Tell us about any acne medicines, skincare or medical conditions
- Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids before treatment, as advised
- Avoid sun, sunbeds and fake tan on the area
- If you get cold sores, tell us at your consultation
After Your Session
- Redness is normal and settles, from a day to about a week depending on the treatment
- Do not pick or scrub the treated skin
- Use SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sun
- Follow the skincare your therapist recommends
- Contact us if you have any concerns

“…The healing properties in the ameela exosomes PDRN has really helped with my recovery time post microneedling. My skin looks so radiant and glowy, I’m really impressed and will absolutely be requesting this treatment again when I have micro-needling in the next 3-4 months… I’ve been trusting Naz for a while now with hydra-facials and micro-needling and I couldn’t imagine going elsewhere.”

Acne Scar Treatment FAQs
What is the best acne scar treatment?
There is no single best treatment, because it depends on your scar type, skin type and the downtime you can allow. Rolling and boxcar scars often respond well to iPixel laser resurfacing or Morpheus8, milder scarring to microneedling, and post-acne marks to peels. We recommend a plan after assessing your skin.
Can acne scars be removed completely?
Acne scars can rarely be removed completely, but most people see a clear improvement in how noticeable they are over a course of treatments. We will tell you honestly at your consultation what is realistic for your scars.
How much does acne scar treatment cost in Leicester?
At ND Skin in Wigston, Dermapen 4 microneedling is £150 a session or £400 for 3, iPixel laser resurfacing is £225 or £600 for 3 on the face, exosome microneedling is £300 or £800 for 3, ClearSkin PRO is £150 or £450 for 3, the Perfect Peel is £250 or £600 for 3, and Morpheus8 on the lower face and neck is £500 or £1,200 for 3. The skin consultation is £35, redeemable against treatment of £100 or more.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people need a course of 3 sessions, around 4 to 6 weeks apart. Deeper scarring may need more, or a combination of treatments over several months.
Does laser work for acne scars?
Yes. Fractional laser resurfacing such as iPixel is one of the most effective treatments for rolling and boxcar acne scars and rough texture. It removes tiny columns of damaged skin and triggers new collagen.
Laser or microneedling for acne scars?
Microneedling has very little downtime and suits milder scarring. Laser resurfacing usually does more per session for noticeable scarring, but has about a week of downtime. Many plans use both.
Is Morpheus8 good for acne scars?
Morpheus8 combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy deeper in the skin, so it can help deeper acne scarring and also tightens skin. It is often used for scarring on the lower face and jawline.
Can you treat acne scars if I still have spots?
We treat active acne first, because new breakouts can leave new scars and some scar treatments are not used on inflamed skin. ClearSkin laser and our acne treatments can help calm breakouts.
What is the difference between acne scars and acne marks?
Acne scars are changes in the skin’s texture, usually dips or raised areas. Acne marks are flat red or brown patches left after spots, which often fade and respond to different treatments. Our OBSERV skin analysis shows which you have.
Is there an acne scar clinic near me in Leicester?
ND Skin Aesthetics is a skin and laser clinic at 32 Bell Street, Wigston, about 10 minutes from Oadby, Knighton, Stoneygate and Leicester city centre, with acne scar treatment by appointment.
What is the best treatment for rolling acne scars?
Rolling scars often respond well to iPixel laser resurfacing, Morpheus8 RF microneedling or microneedling, and many people get the best results from a combination. We confirm the scar type with an OBSERV scan first.
What is the best treatment for boxcar scars?
Boxcar scars are often treated with iPixel laser resurfacing to soften the sharp edges, combined with Morpheus8 or microneedling to rebuild collagen underneath. Most people need a course of 3 or more.
What is the best treatment for ice pick scars?
Ice pick scars are the hardest acne scars to improve because they are narrow and deep. They usually need a combination plan over several sessions, and we will be honest about how much they are likely to change.
Can you treat pimple scars?
Yes. Pimple scars are acne scars, and we treat them with iPixel laser resurfacing, Morpheus8, microneedling and peels, depending on the type of scar and your skin.
Is iPixel or CO2 laser better for acne scars?
Both are ablative lasers that resurface the skin. CO2 is usually more aggressive, with longer downtime. The Er:YAG laser in iPixel removes skin very precisely with less heat spreading to the surrounding skin, which is why it usually heals faster. We do not offer CO2.
Morpheus8 or iPixel for acne scars?
iPixel resurfaces the surface of the skin and is very good for texture and scar edges. Morpheus8 works deeper with radiofrequency and also tightens loose skin. For mixed scarring we often use both, spaced safely over a few months.
Is microneedling good for acne scars?
Yes, for mild to moderate scarring and texture. Dermapen 4 microneedling builds collagen without heat and has only a day or two of pinkness. Deeper scars usually need laser resurfacing or Morpheus8 as well.
Do exosomes help acne scars?
Microneedling with Ameela exosomes supports skin repair and recovery after treatment, and can help skin look smoother and more radiant. It is used alongside a course of microneedling, not as a cure on its own.
Is acne scar treatment painful?
We use numbing cream for laser resurfacing, Morpheus8 and microneedling. Most people feel heat or a prickling sensation, and the skin can feel like mild sunburn afterwards.
How long is the downtime?
It depends on the treatment: about a day or two of pinkness after microneedling, a few days after Morpheus8, and about 5 to 7 days of redness and flaking after iPixel laser resurfacing.
When will I see results?
The skin often looks smoother within a couple of weeks of a session, but scars improve gradually as new collagen forms over the following months. Results vary from person to person.
Do you treat acne scars on brown and Black skin?
Yes. Some lasers carry a higher risk of dark marks on brown and Black skin, so we assess you individually with an OBSERV scan, patch test, and often start with Morpheus8 or microneedling, using iPixel only on careful settings where suitable.
Can men have acne scar treatment?
Yes. Many of our acne scar clients are men, and treatments can work around the beard area. You can see a male client in our before and after photos.
Who carries out acne scar treatment at ND Skin?
Our qualified therapists, trained on each machine and fully insured, carry out acne scar treatments at our clinic in Wigston.
How much is the consultation?
The skin consultation is £35 and redeemable against any treatment of £100 or more. It includes a patch test where needed. The OBSERV 520x skin analysis is currently £35, usually £70.
Do you treat acne scars on the back or chest?
Some treatments can be used on the body. Ask at your consultation and we will tell you what is suitable and give you a price.
Do you offer acne scar treatment near Oadby, Blaby or Market Harborough?
Yes. Our clinic in Wigston is about 10 minutes from Oadby and Leicester city centre, about 10 minutes from Blaby and around 25 minutes from Market Harborough, Lutterworth and Hinckley.
Where is your clinic?
ND Skin Aesthetics, 32 Bell Street, Wigston, Leicester LE18 1AD. We are open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9:30am to 6pm, Thursday 9:30am to 7pm and Saturday 9:30am to 5pm. Appointments only.
Can I combine acne scar treatments?
Yes. Combination plans often work best because scars sit at different depths. Your therapist will space treatments safely, for example iPixel and microneedling, over a few months.
How long do acne scar results last?
Improvement in acne scars is usually long lasting, because it comes from new collagen. New breakouts can cause new scars, so keeping acne under control and protecting your skin from the sun helps keep your results.
Can I have treatment after Roaccutane?
We usually wait until 6 months after finishing isotretinoin (Roaccutane) before resurfacing or microneedling. We can plan your treatment and start with gentle skincare in the meantime.
