Enlarged Pores and Blackhead Removal in Leicester

Enlarged pores and blackheads are one of the most common reasons people come to see us. You might notice open pores on your nose and cheeks that make skin look rough under make-up, blackheads on the nose and chin that come back days after you squeeze them, or a shiny, congested T-zone with small bumps and whiteheads. Pore strips, scrubs and squeezing usually make it worse, and shop products only go so far.

At ND Skin Aesthetics in Wigston, enlarged pores treatment in Leicester starts with a consultation and an OBSERV 520x skin scan. The texture and UV views show how large your pores are, where oil and blockages sit, and whether texture, sun damage or loss of firmness are making pores look bigger. Then we build a plan from the treatments we have under one roof: HydraFacial for deep cleansing and blackhead extraction, ClearSkin PRO laser for oily, congested skin, The Perfect Peel to unclog and smooth, Dermapen 4 microneedling and ClearLift laser to refine pore size, and iPixel laser resurfacing and Morpheus8 for pores with rough texture or loose skin.

Looking for blackhead removal near me or a pore treatment near me? We are on Bell Street in Wigston, about 10 minutes from Oadby, Knighton and Leicester city centre. We treat men and women with every skin tone, including oily, sensitive and breakout-prone skin.

We will always be honest: pores cannot be closed or removed, and blackheads come back if the cause is not managed. What the right treatment can do is clear blockages, reduce oil and make large pores look smaller, smoother and less noticeable. Results build over a course and vary from person to person.

Types of Pore Concerns: Blackheads, Open Pores and Congestion

Pore problems are not all the same, and the type decides which treatment helps. An extraction facial clears blackheads but will not change pore size, and a laser that refines pores will not clear a nose full of blockages on its own. Many people have more than one type.

Blackheads and blocked pores

Open pores filled with oil and dead skin. The top turns dark when it meets the air, so they look black, not because of dirt. Most common on the nose, chin, forehead and between the eyebrows.

Enlarged or open pores on oily skin

Visible, round pores on the nose, cheeks and forehead, usually with shine. Extra oil stretches the pore opening, which is why oily skin and large pores often go together. With age, pores can also sag into an oval shape as the skin loses firmness.

Whiteheads and congested skin

Small, closed bumps, blackheads and a rough, gritty feel, often around the chin, jaw and nose. Congested skin can tip into breakouts, so it is worth treating early. For active spots, see our acne treatment page.

Pores and blackheads on brown and Black skin

Open pores and blackheads are just as common in darker skin, and squeezing can leave dark marks behind. Treatments and settings need choosing carefully to avoid pigmentation.

Large pores in men

Men often have oilier skin with larger pores on the cheeks and nose, and more blackheads. Shaving and sweat can add to congestion.

Sebaceous filaments on the nose

Tiny grey or yellow dots on the nose and chin that are a normal part of the skin, and are often mistaken for blackheads. They can be cleared, but they always refill, so the goal is to keep them less visible.

Photos of the condition are illustrative examples, not ND Skin clients.

What Causes Blackheads and Enlarged Pores?

Pore size is mostly set by your genes, and pores are naturally bigger where you have more oil glands, on the nose, cheeks and forehead. Several things make them look larger. Oily skin fills and stretches the pore. Dead skin cells and oil mix into a plug, which becomes a blackhead or whitehead. Hormones, humidity and heavy or oily products increase oil and blockages. With age and sun damage the skin loses collagen, so the walls of the pore sag. Squeezing and picking damage the skin around the pore and can leave it permanently wider or marked.

That is why the most effective plans for enlarged pores and blackheads do three things: clear what is inside the pore, control the oil that blocks it, and strengthen the skin around it.

Watch: Pores and Blackheads in 30 seconds. What it is, common causes and how we can help.

Oily skin

Extra oil stretches pores and blocks them.

Genetics

Some people naturally have larger pores.

Ageing and sun

Loss of collagen makes pores sag and look wider.

Blocked pores

Blackheads and whiteheads stretch the opening.

Squeezing

Damages the skin and can enlarge pores.

Start with an OBSERV 520x Skin Analysis

Two people with “big pores” can need completely different treatments. That is why every pore plan at ND Skin starts with our OBSERV 520x skin analysis. The scan helps us see:

  • pore size and where your pores are most visible
  • blackheads, congestion and oil, including blockages that show up under UV light
  • texture and fine lines that make pores look bigger
  • redness, sun damage and early breakouts across the rest of the face

Your therapist goes through the images with you, uses them to choose your plan and repeats the scan as you go, so you can see the change rather than guess. The analysis is normally £70 and currently £35, redeemable against treatment of £100 or more.

Treatments for Enlarged Pores and Blackheads

We have more pore and blackhead treatments than most Leicester clinics, so your plan is matched to what is really going on in your skin, not to one machine. After your consultation and OBSERV scan, these are the treatments we choose from, what each one does and what it costs. All of them are carried out by our qualified therapists, trained on each machine and fully insured.

About Medical-grade skincare

Honest advice: a HydraFacial clears blackheads straight away, but they come back over a few weeks unless the oil behind them is managed, so most people pair it with ClearSkin laser, a peel or the right skincare. Pore size changes slowly, over a course of microneedling or laser. If the dots on your nose are sebaceous filaments, we will tell you, rather than sell you treatment you do not need.

No treatment is an instant fix; results build over a course and vary from person to person.

Why Choose ND Skin for Pores and Blackheads in Leicester?

Pore and Blackhead Treatment: Results and What to Expect

Blackheads can be cleared in a single HydraFacial, and most people see cleaner, smoother, brighter skin straight away. Keeping them clear takes regular facials every 4 to 6 weeks, oil control and the right skincare. Pore size changes more slowly: after a course of ClearSkin, Dermapen 4 microneedling, ClearLift or iPixel, most people notice smoother texture and pores that look smaller within 6 to 12 weeks, as new collagen builds. Pores never disappear, and results vary from person to person.

  • sudden breakouts with other symptoms, such as irregular periods or extra hair growth

For breakouts, see our acne treatment page, and for marks left behind, our acne scar treatment page.

Your Skin Consultation

The skin consultation is £35, redeemable against any treatment of £100 or more, and includes a patch test where needed. Appointments only. For a detailed map of your skin, add an OBSERV 520x skin analysis.

Pores and Blackheads FAQs

What is the best treatment for enlarged pores?

It depends on why your pores look large. For oily skin, ClearSkin PRO laser helps control the oil that stretches pores. For pores with rough texture, Dermapen 4 microneedling, ClearLift or iPixel laser build collagen so pores look smaller. For pores that look stretched because the skin has lost firmness, Morpheus8 can help. We recommend a plan after your consultation and OBSERV scan.

What is the best facial for blackheads and enlarged pores?

A HydraFacial is one of the most effective facials for blackheads, because it cleanses, exfoliates and gently extracts blockages with vortex suction, then hydrates. It clears pores straight away but does not change pore size, so for large pores we usually pair it with laser, a peel or microneedling.

Can you shrink pores permanently?

No treatment can close or remove pores, because they are a normal part of the skin. Treatments can make pores look smaller for a long time by reducing oil, clearing blockages and building collagen around them. Results last longer with the right skincare, daily SPF and a top-up once or twice a year.

Can laser shrink pore size?

Laser can make pores look smaller. ClearSkin PRO calms oil, ClearLift refines texture with no downtime, and iPixel resurfaces the skin for deeper, stretched pores. Most people need a course of 3 or more sessions, and results build gradually.

How much does blackhead removal cost in Leicester?

At ND Skin in Wigston, a Signature HydraFacial with extraction is £80, a Deluxe HydraFacial £120 and a Platinum £130, with courses of 6 from £680. The Perfect Peel is £250, or £600 for 3.

How much does enlarged pores treatment cost in Leicester?

ClearSkin PRO laser for the full face is £150, or £450 for 3. Dermapen 4 microneedling is £150, or £400 for 3. ClearLift full face is £150, or £420 for 3. iPixel is £225, or £600 for 3. Morpheus8 full face and neck is £600, or £1,400 for 3. The consultation is £35, redeemable against treatment of £100 or more.

Do you do blackhead extraction in Leicester?

Yes. Our HydraFacial includes a gentle extraction step using vortex suction, which removes blackheads and blockages without squeezing. We are a verified HydraFacial provider in Wigston, about 10 minutes from Leicester city centre.

Should I squeeze blackheads?

It is best not to. Squeezing can push oil deeper, damage the skin, spread bacteria and leave pores looking bigger or marked. Professional extraction is safer and more thorough.

Are the black dots on my nose blackheads?

They may be sebaceous filaments, a normal part of the skin that lines the pore. They look like small grey or yellow dots and refill naturally after cleaning. A HydraFacial and the right skincare keep them less visible. We can tell the difference at your consultation.

Why do my blackheads keep coming back?

Blackheads form when oil and dead skin build up in the pore. If you have oily skin, they will keep forming unless the oil is managed. Regular HydraFacials, ClearSkin laser and pore-clearing skincare work together to slow them down.

Do pore strips work?

Pore strips pull out the top of a blackhead but leave the rest of the pore blocked, and they can irritate the skin and break small blood vessels. They do not shrink pores. A professional facial and the right skincare work better.

Does microneedling help enlarged pores?

Yes. Dermapen 4 microneedling builds collagen around the pore so the skin becomes firmer and pores look smaller and smoother. Most people have a course of 3 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart.

Is a chemical peel good for blackheads?

A professional peel such as The Perfect Peel exfoliates inside the pore, loosens blackheads and smooths texture. It is suitable for all skin types and skin colours, with a few days of peeling afterwards.

Does LED light therapy help blackheads and congested skin?

Dermalux blue LED light targets the bacteria linked to congested, breakout-prone skin, and red light calms the skin after extraction or laser. It will not clear blackheads on its own, so we use it alongside a HydraFacial, ClearSkin laser or a peel. Sessions are £25 for 10 minutes or £40 for 20 minutes.

Which skincare do you recommend for enlarged pores?

We stock professional ranges including ZO Skin Health and Obagi, with ingredients such as salicylic acid, retinol and niacinamide that help keep pores clear, plus daily SPF. Your therapist will choose a routine for your skin at your consultation.

Do you offer a carbon laser peel?

We do not offer a carbon laser peel. For oily skin and pores we use ClearSkin PRO and ClearLift on our Alma Harmony XL PRO, which work on oil and texture without the carbon mask. We will talk through the options at your consultation.

Can you treat enlarged pores on brown and Black skin?

Yes. We choose treatments and settings carefully for darker skin to avoid pigmentation, for example HydraFacial, The Perfect Peel, Dermapen 4 microneedling and ClearLift, and we patch test before laser where needed.

Do you treat pores and blackheads in men?

Yes. Men often have oilier skin and larger pores, especially on the nose and cheeks. We treat men with the same tailored plans, including HydraFacial and ClearSkin laser.

How many sessions will I need?

Blackheads can be cleared in one HydraFacial, with regular facials to keep them clear. Improving pore size usually takes a course of 3 or more sessions of laser, microneedling or peels.

Is there downtime?

HydraFacial, ClearSkin and ClearLift have no downtime. Microneedling can leave skin pink for a day or two. The Perfect Peel causes peeling for 3 to 5 days. iPixel and Morpheus8 can leave redness for a few days.

Does it hurt?

Most people find these treatments comfortable. A HydraFacial feels like a cool, gentle suction. ClearSkin and ClearLift feel warm. For microneedling and Morpheus8, numbing cream is used where needed. Your therapist will talk you through what to expect.

Who carries out the treatments?

All pore and blackhead treatments are carried out by our qualified therapists, trained on each machine and fully insured.

How much is a consultation?

The skin consultation is £35, redeemable against any treatment of £100 or more. The OBSERV 520x skin analysis is currently £35, usually £70.

Is there a blackhead removal clinic near me?

ND Skin Aesthetics is a skin and laser clinic at 32 Bell Street, Wigston, about 10 minutes from Oadby, Knighton, Stoneygate and Leicester city centre, with pore and blackhead treatments by appointment.
