Rosacea and Facial Redness Treatment in Leicester
Rosacea is a common, long-term skin condition that causes redness across the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. It often starts with flushing that comes and goes, then becomes more constant, with visible thread veins (broken capillaries) and sometimes small red bumps. It is more common in women and in fair skin, but it affects men and darker skin tones too, where redness can be harder to spot.
There is no cure for rosacea, but it can usually be managed well. At ND Skin Aesthetics in Wigston we offer rosacea treatment in Leicester that starts by finding out how deep your redness goes with an OBSERV 520x skin scan. We then build a plan that can combine DYE-VL light treatment on the Alma Harmony XL PRO for redness and thread veins, calming LED light therapy, gentle facials and the right skincare and SPF.
No treatment is an instant fix. Rosacea is managed over a journey of treatments, skincare and knowing your triggers, and results vary from person to person.
Signs and Types of Rosacea
Rosacea looks different from person to person. Most people have a mix of these signs, and they can change over time.

Flushing and persistent redness
Redness across the cheeks and nose that comes and goes at first, then stays. Skin can feel hot, sensitive or sting.
Thread veins (broken capillaries)
Small visible blood vessels on the cheeks and around the nose. These are one of the signs that respond best to light-based treatment such as DYE-VL.
Bumps and spots
Red bumps and small pus-filled spots that can look like acne, but without blackheads. Often called papulopustular rosacea.
Thickened skin
In some people, usually men, the skin on the nose slowly thickens (rhinophyma). This needs a GP or dermatologist referral.
Eye symptoms
Dry, gritty or red eyes and eyelids (ocular rosacea). Speak to your GP or optician about eye symptoms.
Rosacea or something else?
Redness can also come from sensitised skin, sun damage or other conditions. Our OBSERV redness scan helps show what is going on.
Photos of the condition are illustrative examples, not ND Skin clients.
What Causes Rosacea and What Triggers a Flare?
The exact cause of rosacea is not fully understood. It is linked to over-reactive blood vessels, inflammation in the skin, a weakened skin barrier and genetics. Most people find certain triggers make their redness worse.
Watch: Rosacea in 30 seconds. What it is, common causes and how we can help.
Sun and heat
UV, hot weather, saunas and hot baths are the most common triggers.
Hot drinks and spicy food
Can set off flushing in many people.
Alcohol
Especially red wine.
Stress and exercise
Anything that makes you flush can trigger a flare.
Harsh skincare
Scrubs, strong acids and fragranced products can irritate.
Start with an OBSERV 520x Skin Analysis
Rosacea is easy to confuse with other kinds of redness, and two people with the same red cheeks can need very different plans. Our OBSERV 520x skin analysis has a dedicated redness view that shows:
- how deep your redness goes: surface inflammation, or dilated blood vessels deeper in the skin
- where your thread veins and broken capillaries are, and how many
- pigmentation and sun damage sitting alongside the redness
- how sensitive and reactive your skin barrier looks
Your therapist uses this to choose between calming treatments, DYE-VL light treatment or a combination, and you can compare scans as your plan goes on. The analysis is normally £70 and currently £35, redeemable against treatment of £100 or more.

Treatments That Can Help Rosacea
We are a technology-led clinic, so your rosacea plan can combine more than one approach. These are the treatments we use for rosacea and facial redness, what each one does and what it costs. Your therapist will recommend what suits your skin after your consultation and scan.
DYE-VL light treatment
Our main in-clinic treatment for rosacea redness. DYE-VL on the Alma Harmony XL PRO uses a narrow, filtered band of light that is absorbed by the blood in small, dilated vessels. The vessels are gently heated and the body clears them over the following weeks, so redness and visible thread veins fade. It is often described as an advanced alternative to IPL for rosacea.
- Best for
- Persistent redness, flushing, thread veins and broken capillaries
- Course
- Usually 3 sessions, about 4 weeks apart, then top-ups
- Downtime
- Mild redness or swelling for a day or two
- Price
- Full face £150, or £400 for 3
Dermalux LED light therapy
Calming red and near-infrared LED light that helps soothe redness and reactive, sensitive skin. There is no heat and no downtime, so it can be used on its own for milder rosacea or between DYE-VL sessions.
- Best for
- Sensitive, reactive skin and mild flushing
- Course
- Regular sessions, often weekly to start
- Downtime
- None
- Price
- £25 for 10 minutes, £40 for 20 minutes
DYE-SR treatment
A light treatment on the Harmony XL PRO for uneven tone and sun damage. We may add it to your plan when redness sits alongside sun spots and pigmentation.
- Best for
- Redness mixed with sun spots and uneven tone
- Course
- Planned with your DYE-VL sessions
- Downtime
- Little to none
- Price
- From £150 per session
Gentle HydraFacial
For stable, mild rosacea only, never during a flare. We use a gentle protocol with soothing, hydrating serums and skip strong peels, to cleanse and hydrate without irritating the skin. Your therapist will check it suits your skin first.
- Best for
- Dull, dehydrated skin with mild, settled redness
- Course
- As part of maintenance
- Downtime
- None
- Price
- Signature £80, Deluxe with LED £120
Medical-grade skincare and SPF
The most important part of every rosacea plan. Gentle, barrier-supporting skincare from ranges such as ZO Skin Health and Obagi, plus a daily high-protection SPF such as Heliocare, help calm redness and protect your results.
- Best for
- Everyone with rosacea
- Course
- Daily, ongoing
- Downtime
- None
- Price
- Recommended at your consultation, priced per product
Good to know: light treatments can reduce redness and thread veins, but rosacea can come back over time, so many people have top-up sessions once or twice a year and keep up their skincare and SPF. Spots and bumps often need prescription treatment from your GP as well.
No treatment is an instant fix; results build over a course and vary from person to person.
Rosacea Treatment Plans

Rosacea Treatment: What to Expect
Rosacea is managed, not cured. Most people see redness and visible veins reduce gradually over a course of treatments, alongside calmer, stronger skin from the right skincare. We review your progress with follow-up scans.
Consultation
We look at your skin, triggers and history, often with an OBSERV scan.
A Course
Light treatments are usually a course of sessions, a few weeks apart.
Skincare
Gentle products and daily SPF to protect your results.
Maintenance
Top-ups help keep redness under control over time.
Results vary from person to person, depending on your skin, the concern being treated and your aftercare. Your therapist will explain what you can realistically expect at your consultation.
When to See Your GP First
We help with the look of redness and thread veins. Please speak to your GP or a dermatologist first, or as well, if you:
- have sore, gritty or red eyes or eyelids
- notice the skin on your nose thickening
- have painful, widespread spots or a sudden severe flare
- are not sure whether it is rosacea, or it started with a new medicine
- have any symptoms elsewhere in your body, such as joint pain
Rosacea is often treated with prescription creams or tablets, and these can work well alongside clinic treatments.
Your Rosacea Consultation
Every rosacea plan starts with a skin consultation with one of our qualified therapists. We talk about your redness, triggers, medicines and skincare, look at your skin and explain which treatments may help.
The skin consultation is £35, redeemable against any treatment of £100 or more, and includes a patch test where needed. Appointments only. For a detailed map of your skin, add an OBSERV 520x skin analysis.

Rosacea FAQs
Can rosacea be cured?
There is no cure for rosacea, but it can usually be managed well. Treatments such as DYE-VL light can reduce redness and visible veins, and the right skincare and avoiding triggers help keep it under control.
What is the best treatment for rosacea redness?
For persistent redness and thread veins, DYE-VL light treatment on the Alma Harmony XL PRO is often a good option. Many people also need prescription treatment from their GP for spots and flares. We recommend a plan after your consultation and OBSERV scan.
How much does rosacea treatment cost in Leicester?
At ND Skin in Wigston, DYE-VL is £150 for the full face or £400 for a course of 3. Dermalux LED is £25 for 10 minutes or £40 for 20 minutes. The OBSERV skin analysis is £35, usually £70, and the consultation is £35, redeemable against treatment of £100 or more.
Is DYE-VL the same as IPL for rosacea?
DYE-VL is a light-based treatment like IPL, but it uses a narrower, filtered band of light aimed at the blood in small vessels, which helps target redness and thread veins with less heat on the surrounding skin.
Does laser or light treatment work for rosacea?
Light-based treatments can reduce redness and visible blood vessels for many people. They do not stop rosacea coming back, so top-up sessions are common.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people need a course of 3 DYE-VL sessions about 4 weeks apart, then occasional top-ups. Your therapist will suggest a plan after your consultation and scan.
Is there any downtime?
After DYE-VL, skin can look red or slightly swollen for a day or two, and some veins may look darker before they fade. LED and a gentle HydraFacial have no downtime.
Can you treat thread veins and broken capillaries on the face?
Yes. Visible thread veins on the cheeks and around the nose are one of the signs that respond best to DYE-VL light treatment.
Is rosacea the same as acne?
No. Rosacea can cause red bumps and spots, but it does not cause blackheads, and it is treated differently. Some acne products can make rosacea worse.
Can I have a HydraFacial or peel if I have rosacea?
Strong peels can irritate rosacea. A gentle HydraFacial can suit stable, mild rosacea, but never during a flare. We assess your skin first.
Do you treat rosacea in darker skin?
Yes. Rosacea can be harder to see in brown and Black skin. We assess every skin type individually, patch test and choose settings and treatments to suit.
Where is your clinic?
