Quick answer
A HydraFacial cleanses, exfoliates, extracts and hydrates your skin in one session, using a hand-held HydraFacial device and serums. Most people notice skin that feels cleaner, smoother and more hydrated straight after, with little or no downtime. Because skin keeps renewing itself, many clients book about once a month to keep that feeling going. Results vary from person to person.
HydraFacial is one of the most asked-about treatments at our clinic in Wigston. People want to know what it actually does, how it is different from a normal facial, how long the effects last and whether it is worth the money. This guide answers all of that in plain English, from the team who carry out HydraFacials every week using the HydraFacial Elite.
What is a HydraFacial?
A HydraFacial is a branded, multi-step facial carried out with a HydraFacial device. A hand-held tip uses gentle suction and serums to work through each step: cleansing and exfoliating, loosening and lifting out debris from the pores, then hydrating the skin. Stronger versions add targeted booster serums and LED light therapy.
It is not the same as every “hydro facial”. Some clinics use other hydradermabrasion machines. ND Skin Aesthetics is a verified HydraFacial provider, and our treatments are carried out by qualified therapists.

7 benefits of a HydraFacial
1. A deep cleanse and gentle exfoliation
The first step lifts away dead skin cells and surface build-up, which can leave skin looking dull. It is gentle enough that most people find it relaxing.
2. Clearer-looking pores
Extraction uses suction rather than squeezing to help clear blackheads and congestion. Clients with oily or congested skin, especially around the nose and chin, often notice the difference most.
3. Hydration
HydraFacial serums are worked into freshly cleansed skin, so it feels softer and plumper afterwards. This is a big reason people book before an event.
4. A fresher, brighter-looking complexion
With the dead skin and congestion cleared and the skin hydrated, many people say their skin looks more even and has more of a glow.
5. Little or no downtime
Most people go straight back to their day. Some have mild redness that settles quickly.
6. It can be tailored
Boosters (from £20) are added to focus on things like dullness, fine lines or congestion. The Deluxe and Platinum also include Dermalux LED light therapy.
7. It suits most skin types
A HydraFacial is gentle and suits most skin types, including many people with sensitive skin. Your therapist checks your skin at your consultation first and adapts the treatment if needed. It is popular with men as well as women.

What a HydraFacial won’t do
It is worth being honest about the limits. A HydraFacial is a skin-health facial, not a fix for everything:
- It does not replace medical treatment for active or severe acne. If you have painful or widespread breakouts, we will talk you through other options.
- Deeper lines, acne scarring and stubborn pigmentation usually need other treatments, such as microneedling or peels, often as a course.
- One session will not change your skin for good. The fresh, hydrated feeling is why people come back regularly.
If you are not sure what your skin needs, an OBSERV 520x skin analysis looks beneath the surface and helps plan the right treatments.
HydraFacial vs a standard facial
| HydraFacial | Standard facial | |
|---|---|---|
| Extraction | Suction, no squeezing | Usually manual, if at all |
| Hydration | HydraFacial serums worked into the skin | Masks and creams |
| Tailoring | Boosters and LED options | Depends on the salon |
| Time | 30 to 60 minutes | Often 60 minutes or more |
How long do HydraFacial results last?
Most people notice the difference straight after, and the skin often feels at its freshest over the next few days. How long it lasts depends on your skin, your skincare and your lifestyle. Your skin renews itself roughly every month, which is why regular sessions keep the effect going.
How often should you have a HydraFacial?
Many of our clients book about once a month. Some come every few weeks in the run-up to a wedding or holiday, and others book one before a special occasion. Your therapist will suggest a routine that fits your skin and your goals.
Is a HydraFacial worth it?
For most people, the value is in getting a deep cleanse, extraction and hydration in one appointment, with no downtime, in as little as 30 minutes. At ND Skin Aesthetics in Wigston, prices are:
- Signature HydraFacial, £80: 5 steps, about 30 minutes
- Deluxe HydraFacial, £120: 6 steps with a booster and 5 minutes of Dermalux LED, about 45 minutes
- Platinum HydraFacial, £130: 7 steps with 10 minutes of Dermalux LED, about an hour
If you want regular sessions, a course of 6 costs £680 for the Deluxe or £740 for the Platinum (each saves £40), and boosters are £15 each when you book 6.
If you are new to HydraFacial, the Signature is a good way to see how your skin responds. See full details on our HydraFacial in Leicester page.
HydraFacial aftercare
- Leave make-up off for the rest of the day so your skin can settle.
- Use SPF 30 or higher every day.
- Skip strong actives such as retinoids and exfoliating acids for 24 hours.
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms and hard workouts for the rest of the day.
- Drink plenty of water and keep up a simple, gentle skincare routine.
Your therapist will give you aftercare for your own skin, so always follow that first.
Having a HydraFacial before a wedding or event
Book it two to five days before the day. If you have never had a HydraFacial, have a first session a few weeks earlier so you know how your skin responds.
Frequently asked questions
Does a HydraFacial hurt?
Most people find it comfortable and relaxing. The suction feels like a gentle pulling sensation.
Is a HydraFacial good for acne-prone skin?
It can help with oily, congested skin and blackheads. If you have active, inflamed or severe acne, we will check your skin at your consultation and may suggest a different treatment first.
Can I have a HydraFacial if I have sensitive skin?
Often, yes. Tell your therapist about any sensitivity, skin conditions or skincare you use, and they will adapt the treatment.
Can men have a HydraFacial?
Yes. It is a simple way to deep-clean oily or congested skin and suits men as well as women.
Which HydraFacial machine do you use?
We use the HydraFacial Elite. You may see the newer HydraFacial Syndeo at some clinics. Both carry out the same core steps: cleanse, exfoliate, extract and hydrate.
Do you sell HydraFacial gift vouchers?
Yes. Call 0116 288 7267, message us on WhatsApp or ask in clinic.
